Concept 2 - History of AUArts
Apply colour to each year using Colour of the Year Chart(s)/discretion
- 1926: The art department of PITA began offering day classes, with Lars Haukaness as its first head.
watch YouTube video discussing colours of the 1920's
- 1960: PITA was renamed SAIT, and the art department became the Alberta College of Art (ACA).
- 1973: The ACA moved into a new, purpose-built facility on the edge of Calgary's North Hill.
- 1985: ACA separated from SAIT to become a self-governing, publicly funded institution.
- 1995: The college was granted degree-granting accreditation and renamed the Alberta College of Art and Design (ACAD).
- 2019: ACAD was renamed the Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts), making it the province's first university dedicated solely to art and design.
2.1 Create a plexi box to hold, 6 coasters of various colours,
2.2 Repeat and engrave brief history, relating to each year/colour.
2.3 Apply colour to sides of coaster, bold a stand for coasters to be held together
2.4 1/3 Full colour to left, dipped. AuArts engraved across top of coaster. Rectangle shape.
Concept 3: Auarts by floorUsing the floor plan to create stackable coasters;3.1 Using the floor plan cut out the exterior of each floor, so when stacked the coasters emulate the exterior of the building. One coaster per floor, plus a 6th spelling out AUArts (6 coasters)
3.2 Repeat the above but engrave room plan and numbers.
Reflection - I think I am most exited about using the variation of colour to describe the history of Institution. Not only can there be a layer of subtlety to this, this idea is the most open to interpretation.
