For our hybrid we split our design 50/50, to match the spacial restrictions laid out in the outline and credit the design of each member. The design of Kyungseo's base allowed for the structure to be firmly supported while standing and created strong base layer for 3d printing. The likely hood of a successful print is high because there are no true over hangs.

Initial castle model. Incorporate critiques from the Speed Dating session: Initial concept was roughly sketched in Rhino. Some peers found the concept difficult to interpret. Suggestions included: scale, use of multiples. Process Documentation & Reflection On your process blog or course site, post: Issues - translating  image's from web to surface textures.  Sea Weed would not cover rendered ends  Sand Dollar - texture translated into quadrants Castle and wall - castle worked well, but wall showed  seems where sweep began and ended.  Shell floor - neither of these came out well. It may have to do with the image resolution. Rendering bogs down my comp and is frustrating!

Laser cut coaster: Select, refine, design.

 I have chosen to reimagine Katie Ohe's tribute to former Calgary painter Janet Mitchel. Janets Crown is located in the green space at the south/west corner of the Alberta University of the Arts building. Installed in 2001, Janets Crown celebrates 25 years in 2026, the same year AUArts will celebrate its centennial.  These coasters can be dismantled into 25 individual coasters.  Janet’s Crown, 2001. Industrial paint and clear coat on steel; polished stainless steel; grassy hillside. The piece occupies an area approximately 35 feet in diameter. The central form is five-feet-seven-and-a-half-inches high by five-feet wide; individual stars vary in size from 22 to 38 inches.
