Mold Positive Design






Testing water jug designs out for a two part mold to be used for glass fabrication. 

Couple of concerns with the red jug. The lip needs to be build out more as it is currently none existent. I will also need to correct the flare that is happening at the base of the jug, along with the awkward junction at the side of the jug. Additionally the next feels disproportionate to the base. 

The speckled jug is more successful than the red. I will adjust this for the CNC process. Because I want to make this in glass, I will need to make a core to hold the glass in place. The mold will need a front and back, and an offset interior from and back with built in sprue. This will also be a bridge project for my testing hallow form kiln casting.

Laser cut coaster: Select, refine, design.

 I have chosen to reimagine Katie Ohe's tribute to former Calgary painter Janet Mitchel. Janets Crown is located in the green space at the south/west corner of the Alberta University of the Arts building. Installed in 2001, Janets Crown celebrates 25 years in 2026, the same year AUArts will celebrate its centennial.  These coasters can be dismantled into 25 individual coasters.  Janet’s Crown, 2001.
