My First Definition

 Assignment Requirements:

1.) Follow along with these video tutorials in Grasshopper.

2.) Complete Tutorials 1 - 8

3.) Create a new blog post and upload screenshots of your creations.

4.) Create your own "riff" on the design covered in the tutorials:

      a.) Can you explore additional functions of the tools covered?

      b.) Can you connect the tools and processes from this tutorial to those covered in class?

5.) Write a brief reflection on your first experience in Grasshopper, and be sure to include any questions or technical issues you ran into.
6.) Post to your Blog

Initial castle model. Incorporate critiques from the Speed Dating session: Initial concept was roughly sketched in Rhino. Some peers found the concept difficult to interpret. Suggestions included: scale, use of multiples. Process Documentation & Reflection On your process blog or course site, post: Issues - translating  image's from web to surface textures.  Sea Weed would not cover rendered ends  Sand Dollar - texture translated into quadrants Castle and wall - castle worked well, but wall showed  seems where sweep began and ended.  Shell floor - neither of these came out well. It may have to do with the image resolution. Rendering bogs down my comp and is frustrating!

Laser cut coaster: Select, refine, design.

 I have chosen to reimagine Katie Ohe's tribute to former Calgary painter Janet Mitchel. Janets Crown is located in the green space at the south/west corner of the Alberta University of the Arts building. Installed in 2001, Janets Crown celebrates 25 years in 2026, the same year AUArts will celebrate its centennial.  These coasters can be dismantled into 25 individual coasters.  Janet’s Crown, 2001. By Katie Ohe, with the technical assistance of George Petitclerc (metal work), Neil Liske (painting) and Barry Klippert (installation). Industrial paint and clear coat on steel; polished stainless steel; grassy hillside. The piece occupies an area approximately 35 feet in diameter. The central form is five-feet-seven-and-a-half-inches high by five-feet wide; individual stars vary in size from 22 to 38 inches. Mold Positive Design

Testing water jug designs out for a two part mold to be used for glass fabrication.  Couple of concerns with the red jug. The lip needs to be build out more as it is currently none existent. I will also need to correct the flare that is happening at the base of the jug, along with the awkward junction at the side of the jug. Additionally the next feels disproportionate to the base.  The speckled jug is more successful than the red. I will adjust this for the CNC process. Because I want to make this in glass, I will need to make a core to hold the glass in place. The mold will need a front and back, and an offset interior from and back with built in sprue. This will also be a bridge project for my testing hallow form kiln casting.
